Addressing Acne

Acne is a pesky problem. While anyone can get acne, at any time and for any reason, it's an especially challenging problem for teens. Teenagers have a challenging enough time trying to navigate the world, find themselves, form healthy relationships, keep up with their responsibilities, and understand the - let's be honest - completely un-understandable forces of social media. Having to deal with acne on top of all that causes added, unnecessary stress.

While there are many popular over-the-counter and prescription products with a focus on treating acne, some of these often come with harsh side-effects and there are some other ways teens can support their skin.

Adding zinc to your daily regimen, for example, can help reduce acne flare-ups. Zinc has anti-inflammatory properties which help to reduce swelling and redness that occurs with acne. Zinc is essential for wound healing as well, which can help reduce the chances of scarring. While you can take a zinc supplement, there are also some zinc-rich foods you can add to your diet like chickpeas (hello hummus!) and shellfish. Furthermore, there is some research that suggests teens prone to acne may have a zinc deficiency. Here at Replenish, we offer an Acne SkinIVâ„¢ along with other skin acne treatments to boost your body which is highly absorbable and fast acting.

In addition to adding zinc to your diet, topicals containing Vitamin A are a good choice. Vitamin A is an antioxidant that fights the free radicals that cause acne and reduces inflammation as well. Vitamin A also promotes new skin cell growth. These creams contain Retinol, a kind of retinoid, which is a derivative of Vitamin A. You may have heard of retinol or even have a cream containing it already stashed in your cabinet. We have a gentle retinol cream available, along with a line of skincare to help those with acne.

If the acne is really bothersome, we offer non-toxic Aerolase laser treatments. NeoClear Aerolase treatment is a great choice for those that don't want to, or can't, take prescription medications. The NeoClear treatments typically take between 10-30 minutes depending on the severity of the acne. This is a safe, effective, and tolerable treatment for teens. Contact us today to help safely reduce the appearance of acne.
